Divisions

Tee Ball Baseball
Tee Ball Baseball is for boys and girls 4-5 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding.  In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching.  The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.  Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this introduction level of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.  Tee Ball rosters may be composed of between 12 and 20 players and they are composed by the VP of Tee Ball/Coach Pitch. No live pitching is permitted in this division. Generally, the diamond used is a 60-foot diamond, but the league has the option to use a 50-foot diamond.

Tee Ball has one weeknight practice on Thursday and a game on Saturday morning at 9 or 11.
All games and practices take place at Windham Assembly of God fields

Coach Pitch Baseball
Coach Pitch Baseball programs for boys and girls may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The Coach Pitch league may be players ages 6-9.  Coach Pitch consists of coaches pitching to the players to further allow for player development.  Rosters are composed of between 12 and 20 players and are composed by the VP of Tee Ball/Coach Pitch. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.

Coach Pitch has one weeknight practice on Tuesday and a game on Saturday morning at 9 or 11.
All games and practices take place at Windham Assembly of God fields

Minor League Softball is for participants 6-11 years old and includes both "coach pitch" and "player pitch."  A player who is league age 6 for the current season and has played a year in Tee Ball is eligible for the minor divisions. Competitive divisions of Minor League Softball may only use nine players on defense. The diamond has 60-foot base paths and a 35 foot pitching distance.  This is a competitive league, used to develop the skills of the players in preparation for Majors.  Games are six innings or two hours, whichever comes first.  Innings alternate between players pitching and coaches pitching with the caveat that if a player walks four consecutive batters, then the coach comes in to pitch the remainder of the inning.  A maximum of five runs per ½ inning are allowed or three outs, whichever comes first, with the exception of the last inning.  Home games are played at Varsity F1, Junior Varsity F5, or Windham Christian Academy’s softball field.  The teams are created by the VP of Minors to create a competitive and balanced league with the playoff seedings by random draw. 

Minors Baseball -

Minors baseball is for players age 8 to 10.  Players must attend assessments. This is a competitive league, used to develop the skills of the players in preparation for Majors.   Games are 6 innings or 2 hours, whichever comes first, with the exception of Playoffs.  Kid's pitch overhand from the pitching mound.  Walks, bunts, and base stealing are not allowed.  When a pitcher has walked 3 batters per inning (not consecutive) the coach will finish the inning according to number of outs left.  The strike zone for the batters is chin to shin and chalk to chalk, to encourage the batter to swing.  The batter will either hit or get an out.  A maximum of 5 runs per 1/2 inning are allowed or 3 outs, whichever comes first, with the exception if the Home team is down more than 5 runs in the bottom of the last inning.   No more than 2 games per week will be scheduled.  Games are played at Manchester field and Ciccarone Field at Lowell farm.  The teams are created by the VP of Minors to create a competitive and balanced league. The seeding for playoffs is done by random draw. The championship game will be played at Ciccarone Field.  At the conclusion of the season, Coaches will select 2 to 4 players from their team to play in an All-Star game at Ciccarone Field. The players selected will be the ones the Coach deems are ready or close to being ready to move onto majors the next season.

Majors Softball
The Little League Softball division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for players ages 9-12. The field uses a 60-foot diamond and a 40 foot pitching distance. We may dual-roster 12-year-olds, assessed capable, to a Major and a Junior division softball teams. The league chooses a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team enters the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Girls Little League Softball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.  Games are six innings or two hours, whichever comes first.  A maximum of five runs per ½ inning are allowed or three outs, whichever comes first, with the exception of the last inning.  Home games are played at Varsity F1 softball field.  The teams are drafted in accordance with approved by-laws and playoff seedings are determined by regular season records.   

Majors Baseball
The Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division) is for boys ages 9-12.  Windham LL has chosen to limit its Major Division to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.  The league chooses, in accordance with our by-laws,  a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team enters the International Tournament.  The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world.
