Divisions

Farm League ("A" Ball) - One Division; ages 4-6

Farm League ('A' Ball) Division - ages 4-6
Tee Ball & Coach Pitch will be combined into one division now known as Farm League or 'A' Ball. The objective of this division is providing a positive introduction to baseball & softball and get the kids to like the game. 50 foot bases will be used. Coach pitches 5 balls to a batter(at the coach’s discretion), then the tee comes out and the batter hits and runs to first. No outs are kept. Runners advance one base at a time, continuous batting order and the last batter hits a “home run” to clear the bases. Offense and Defense switch and repeat. Game sessions are 90 minutes which includes a 30 minute practice to teach throwing and basic fielding fundamentals. 60 minute game to follow.

Minors ('AA') Division  - Baseball
Minors ('AA') Baseball is for players age 7 to 9.  All players must attend assessments. This is an instructional league, used to introduce and develop the skills of the players in preparation for the next division of play.  Games are 6 innings or 2 hours, whichever comes first. Approximately 70% kids pitch and 30% coach pitch. Players throws from the pitching mound from 40 feet. Once a pitcher has walked 3 batters per inning (not consecutive) the coach will finish the inning according to number of outs left. When a coach comes in to pitch, there are no walks, and the batter gets three good pitches to put the ball in play. The strike zone for the batters is chin to shin and chalk to chalk, to encourage the batter to swing. Players will be allowed to advance on Pass Balls Only (Ball must get by catcher) from 1st to 3rd only. There is no advancing of home on a pass ball. Bunting and base stealing are not allowed. A maximum of 5 runs per 1/2 inning are allowed or 3 outs, whichever comes first. No more than 2 games per week will be scheduled. Games will be played on Arlington Field, Manchester Field, and Ciccarone Field at Lowell Farm. The teams are created by the VP of Minors/Mid-Majors Baseball with assistance from the league president, and player agent, to create a competitive and balanced league

Minors ('AAA') Division - Baseball
Minors ('AAA') Baseball is a competitive league based on 9/10/11 Major All-Star Rules used to develop the skills of the players in preparation for  the Majors Division. It is for players ages 9, 10 & 11 who opted not to try out for the Majors Division or didn’t make Majors. All players must attend assessments. Players ages 9-11 can decide to forgo playing in the Majors Division if they want to stay Minors ('AAA') Baseball Division to develop. Games are 6 innings or 2 hours, whichever comes first.  Kids pitch overhand from the pitching mound from 46’. Bunting and base stealing will be introduced at this level of play and there is no dropped third strike. The strike zone for the batters is shoulder to bottom of knees. No more than 2 games per week will be scheduled.  Games are played at Manchester Field and Ciccarone Field at Lowell Farm. The teams are created by the VP of Minors Baseball with assistance from the league president, player agent, and VP of Majors to create a competitive and balanced league. Playoffs will be the last two weeks of the season, double elimination, and seeding will be determined by record. At the conclusion of the season, coaches will select 2 to 4 players from their team to play in the AAA All-Star game at Ciccarone Field. The players selected will be the ones the coach deems are ready or close to being ready to move onto the Majors Division next season.

Majors Division - Age 9-12

Majors Softball
The Little League Softball division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for players ages 9-12. The field uses a 60-foot diamond and a 40 foot pitching distance. We may dual-roster 12-year-olds, assessed capable, to a Major and a Junior division softball teams. The league chooses a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team enters the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Girls Little League Softball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.  Games are six innings or two hours, whichever comes first.  A maximum of five runs per ½ inning are allowed or three outs, whichever comes first, with the exception of the last inning.  Home games are played at Varsity F1 softball field.  The teams are drafted in accordance with approved by-laws and playoff seedings are determined by regular season records.   

Majors Baseball

The Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division) is for boys ages 9-12.  Windham LL has chosen to limit its Major Division to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.  The league chooses, in accordance with our by-laws,  a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team enters the International Tournament.  The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.  Games are six innings or two hours, whichever comes first.   Games are played at Ciccarone field.  The teams are drafted in accordance with approved by-laws and playoff seedings are determined by regular season records.
